Rand's 4 Rhino's fundraising day
8th November 2015
The Four Wheel Drive Club of South Africa
Base 4
Karen Schimmel in conjunction with FWDCSA organised a fundraiser on behalf of Mankwe Wildlife Reserve and The Rhino Orphanage.
The day was an overwhelming success where Lynne MacTavish from Mankwe Wildlife Reserve shared the heartbreaking account of her experience when two rhino were poached on the reserve in October 2014, there wasn't a dry eye in the house, I think people finally saw how serious and traumatic a rhino death is and the after effects it has for years to come.
Brett Gottscho from Mark of the Rhino Expeditions explained their role and partnership with Mankwe Reserve as a volunteer group dedicated to protecting the Mankwe rhino & wildlife and creating awareness of the seriousness of this fight to protect our heritage.
FWDCSA had an auction where they auctioned some very nice prizes, all sorts of foods, cake and trinkets were on sale and all profits went to the organizations represented.
Shaun from Skintrade Tattoo's and Audrey Raubenheimer donated R20,000.00 to Mankwe Reserve from their own fundraising efforts.
A big thank you to all the members of MOTRE who supported and/or attended the event, once again we show our commitment to our vision and passion....to save our rhino, well done.
A very special thanks also to the FWDCSA for once again supporting us and opening their venue and their hearts to a very worthy cause.
